Planned Parenthood

Stand w. Planned Parenthood on Pink Out Day – 9/29/2015 –Pink Out

Cecile Richards says “78%+ of Planned Parenthood patients have yearly incomes at or below $37,000 or 150% of the federal poverty line for a family of four”.

Planned Parenthood has 59 unique, locally governed affiliates nationwide that operate approximately 700 health centers, which reflect the diverse needs of their communities.

These Planned Parenthood health centers provide a wide range of safe, reliable health care — and the majority is preventive, primary care, which helps prevent unintended pregnancies through contraception, reduce the spread of sexually transmitted infections through testing and treatment, and screen for cervical and other cancers. Caring physicians, nurse practitioners, and other staff take time to talk with clients, encouraging them to ask questions in an environment that millions have grown to trust.

On August 13, 2015, The New England Medical Journal (NEMJ) published an article including these two points in support of Planned Parenthood. The authors are George P. Topulos, M.D., Michael F. Greene, M.D., and Jeffrey M. Drazen,

(1) “The contraception services that Planned Parenthood delivers may be the single greatest effort to prevent the unwanted pregnancies that result in abortions…. We are outraged by those who debase these women, this work, and Planned Parenthood by distorting the facts for political ends.”

(2) “We strongly support Planned Parenthood not only for its efforts to respond to requests for fetal tissue for important medical research but also for its other work as one of the country’s largest providers of health care for women, especially poor women….”

“A closer look at the ethics of fetal tissue research, however, reveals a duty to use this precious resource in the hope of finding new preventive and therapeutic interventions for devastating diseases. Virtually every person in this country has benefited from research using fetal tissue. Every child who’s been spared the risks and misery of chickenpox, rubella, or polio can thank the Nobel Prize recipients and other scientists who used such tissue in research yielding the vaccines that protect us.” (NEMJ).

Those who would prevent the abortion of fetal tissue may turn a blind eye to the suffering lives of downloadunwanted children. Think of Bella Bond who suffered until she was killed by her deranged father at the age of 2 ½, as reported by the Boston Globe 9/19/2015. Many such children born in our country are ignored by those who focus on the life of the fetus, rather than the healthy development of a growing child, born to those planning for parenthood.
